This fall Im super grateful to be able to move the party indoors. The fine people at Falconetti’s on Commercial Drive have given us some space and time to showcase some of Vancity’s finest hip hop. At the first event we had my good friends Fully Faded, The Hazmat Crew, #TreeTox and of course me, Dubgee. We’re going to be throwing it down once a month for a couple of hours at Falconetti’s with specially curated live hip hop from yours truly.
I’m also teaching youth “How to make beats” at Britannia Community Center on the weekend. As most of you know, youth work is a passion of mine and it’s great to be able to contribute to young peoples light bulb moments. You know those moments when you can see an idea form and their facial expression lets you know they have had an epiphany? Combine that with kid’s love of bass music these days and it makes me realize that I am serving my purpose in this world.
It also dawned on me that the same workshops I do with kids work really with adults. I was kicking it with my homey Dylan and he asked me what I did in my workshops. I just asked him if he would like a demo and off we went. We ended up remixing “How High” by Meth and Red and it will get posted in a couple of weeks. We had so much fun we did it again and have started a little collection of hilarious remixes as a result.
Now that the rain is here and the beach time is over, it’s time to get down to business. Im looking forward to collabing with and showcasing some of my close rap homies. So if you like the music that I’m putting out or the work that I’m doing, please stay tuned to the blog and feel free to share the music.
